Enjoy a legendary performance by two-time Grammy-winner, star maker and producer extraordinaire Peter Asher at Jimmy’s on Congress. Asher shares his remarkable journey throughout the music industry via a multimedia experience that includes music, film footage and photos from his considerable personal archive.
Asher is a gifted storyteller, transporting audiences back to the heart of 60s popular culture. Icons such as Mick Jagger, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Marianne Faithful, Yoko Ono, Carole King, James Taylor, and Linda Ronstadt are among the cast of characters in this narrative – along with the greatly missed Gordon Waller.
You will hear timeless classics and old favorites from that golden era, including Peter & Gordon’s I Go to Pieces, True Love Ways and Lady Godiva. Songs given to Peter & Gordon by Paul McCartney are also front and center: Woman, I Don’t Want to See You Again, Nobody I Know and World Without Love.
“In my work I travel extensively, and it is very clear that homelessness is an urgent, universal, and global problem – but it is equally clear it is addressed most effectively on a local level. It is precisely this that has impressed me so profoundly about Cross Roads House – very far from being any kind of corporate entity, it is a collection of genuinely good-hearted people offering one-on-one assistance and effective accommodation to others who need it. It is up to us to help in any way we can. I am honored to have been invited to join in this effort by being part of the brilliant event at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues club on October 14 to raise funds to benefit Cross Roads House. I shall see you there!”
