Since 1982, Cross Roads House has provided emergency shelter and supportive services that make a profound impact in the lives of men, women, and children experiencing homelessness in the Greater Seacoast area.

Located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Cross Roads House provides safe emergency and transitional shelter for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. As one of the largest homeless shelters in the state, we serve hundreds of people annually. We provide our residents with safe shelter, nutritious meals, basic needs, 24/7 on-site direct care staff, individualized case management, and the supportive services needed to find permanent housing.

Current Openings

Housing Stability Case Manager | Part-Time

The HSCM will be part of our housing success team, working to promote sustained housing stability for individuals and families who move from the shelter to apartments or other safe housing.  The HSCM provides community and home-based intensive case management to establish housing success, eviction prevention support, and facilitation of positive landlord-tenant relationships. Part-time (20 hours/week), flexible hours.  BSW preferred; equivalent education and experience considered.  Must have strong organizational and relational skills and varied social service experience.

Direct Care Staff

Direct Care Staff assist in the daily operations of Cross Roads House in a professional and hospitable manner. Tasks include answering phones, greeting residents, volunteers, donors, and guests, responding to resident needs, overseeing resident tasks and chores, and working collaboratively with all shelter staff to provide safe emergency shelter and supportive services for people in our community who are experiencing homelessness. This position is part of a 24/7 onsite team. Nights, overnights, and weekends may be required.

Live-in Caretaker

This is a part time position that requires residing at a transitional housing complex in Portsmouth, managed by Cross Roads House, that houses 12 tenants with their own individual rooms and shared common areas. A separate one-bedroom apartment with living room, kitchen and private bathroom and parking will be provided to the caretaker at the rate of $1,000 per month with utilities included. In addition to accommodations, the caretaker will be paid $10.00 per hour to conduct the essential responsibilities (estimated to be approximately 2 hours per day, but may vary from day to day). One stipulation is that the caretaker may not have other employment that requires them to be at a different worksite overnight.
